30-second host introduction

Jay Bhakta is the founder of Outsmart the System and author of Outsmart the System: How to Raise Kids Who Can Handle Money, Pressure, and Real Life. He helps parents and teens build the skills school leaves out: earning, investing, judgment, and follow-through.

Long bio

Jay Bhakta is the founder of Outsmart the System, an education company in Gilbert, Arizona. He spent 20 years building businesses and was financially illiterate for most of his career. He learned it the hard way at 38. So he built the program he wishes someone had run for his own kids.

Outsmart the System works through three tracks: teen side hustles, teen investing education, and Strong Hour for the adult in the house. Teens do the work and own the results. Jay is the guide. He is the author of Outsmart the System: How to Raise Kids Who Can Handle Money, Pressure, and Real Life.

Conversation lanes

Jay is strongest when the conversation gets specific about what a teen is learning from the household around them.

01

The money pattern your household is teaching

How entitlement, fear, avoidance, and judgment are modeled long before a formal money lesson begins.

02

How comfort becomes dependency

Why providing more can quietly remove the practice a teen needs to build initiative and ownership.

03

Earn first, invest second

Why earning, tradeoffs, and paper trading create a stronger foundation than jumping straight to stock picks.

04

What AI cannot practice for your teen

AI can provide answers. It cannot take a risk, hear no, serve a customer, or own the result for them.

05

Support without rescuing

How parents can stay involved without taking the work, decisions, or consequences away from the teen.

06

The adult is part of the curriculum

Why the standards parents keep for their own money, work, and consistency teach more than a lecture does.
